Lots of love floating around in the air this week as a good friend of the site was recently married. Congratulations and lots of love Anna and Joe. This week’s list is for you.
I Need You by the Slowes is the millennial love song they never knew they needed. There’s a simplicity to I Need You that really serves to highlight the Danish band’s longing lyrics.
I know that Gypsy and the Cat made an appearance in TWIM 57, but they dropped another song last week that deserves to be heard. Life is about living your life unapologetically in spite of whats going on all around you. Take a listen and see if you hear a strong Verve influence in the chorus.
It has been awhile since I’ve been able to post a song like Stuck by Oakland, California’s Day Wave. This is indie music in the vein of Ducktails, Real Estate and even the early Shins. In world of MIDI controllers and Ableton Live, there is something really attractive about a guy crushing it with just a guitar, drums and bass.
Every Little Light by Little Children and The Dark by Beauty Sleep is more anthem Yacht Rock for those of you in love with your parent’s vinyl collection.
Jealous of the Birds is a solo project of one Naomi Hamilton who has a new album, Parma Violets, coming out this summer. Her sound happily jumps around a bit so I’ve added two songs for you to check out, Russian Doll and Goji Berry Sunset. While both songs are certainly different, her deft word play is something that seems to unite all of her tracks.
